I hit the 'Buy Now' button....what's next?

SKETCHY PAINTINGS - INFO & NEWS

4 min read

So after many weeks of research and hours of deliberation, I finally made up my mind and I hit the 'Buy Now' button on my web hosting provider's shopping cart.

I now have a 4 year plan to start with, which may sound like a long time, but I'm sure I'll soon be sitting here in 2028 writing an anniversary blog and thinking, "Where has the time gone?"

As for the question in my post's title, 'what's next?', well, that's what this introductory post is all about.

In the next few chapters, I'll cover the main reasons behind my decision to claim and build upon my very own little plot of 'internet estate', as well as some of the plans for the future of my site and blog.

...as to why I created this website, it was to have a bit'more leg room, somewhere that I could post my artwork in selected categories and talk a little bit more about certain aspects of my artwork, style, materials, and techniques.

At last...a bit more 'leg room' for my art.

One of the main reasons...

Don't get me wrong, Instagram is a great platform to post art and connect with other like minded artists and creators, but sometimes the description box is just not big enough and sometimes doesn't even get seen by the viewer(s) who scrolls right through to the next image.

...are most definitely another main factor behind my 'Sketchy Paintings' project.

I'm really looking forward to writing and publishing blog posts, where I aim to inspire you by sharing the techniques and materials I use in creating my fun and colourful style sketches.

To start off with, these posts will most likely be in written form, with 'step-by-step' images to walk you through my process.

Hopefully, in the near future, and probably after many hours of research and learning, I'll also be adding video tutorials to my posts.

Inspirational blog posts...

In addition to my step-by-step tutorial posts, you can look forward to posts covering various art-related topics and features from an ever growing list of ideas that I have in my journal.

...'rush' and also a very rewarding feeling that I've experienced during a couple of small, locally held exhibitions, where I sold some prints from my street photography collection and from my ink and watercolour artwork too.

At the same time, I was very flattered and humbled that several people liked my work so much that they were willing to pay to have a photograph or an art print that I myself had created, for hanging in their homes or as a gift for a friend or a loved one.

Selling artwork is such a...

So with that in mind, I come to the last, but not least, reason as to why I've purchased this website and domain.

"I would like to sell more of my artwork, and let's be honest, who wouldn't?"

I do have plans to make some of my artwork available for purchase, and to start with, I'll be concentrating on offering my artwork as digital downloads.

First step - digital downloads

Selling a finished piece of artwork is such a 'rush'.

This will probably take some time before I get everything up and running, due to the amount of work involved. The process of digitizing, cleaning up, and re-formatting my artwork in various file sizes will, without a doubt, be very time consuming. Not to forget the time it takes to upload and list each piece.

"But hey! Nothing ventured, nothing gained."

Thank you very much for visiting my blog, and I hope you enjoyed my post.

I would love to hear your thoughts, or any question(s) you may have concerning my post.

Don't worry about missing out on updates and posts. I will be using Instagram as a kind of 'alternative newsletter', so any new posts, projects or features will be posted in my feed and/or story.
